Stephanie Nitsch
Stephanie Nitsch is a tenure track professor for comparative private law with a special focus on private environmental law at the University of Vienna. She is head of the Research Center for Environmental Law and a member of the Environment and Climate Research Hub (ECH). She was a lecturer at the University of Berne, a visiting researcher at UNIDROIT, LMU Munich, University of Berne and NYU, and a research and teaching assistant at the University of Vienna where she received her doctoral degree for a dissertation on comparative environmental liability law (‘Umwelthaftung – Gegenüberstellung, Rechtsvergleich und Reformversuch’). She is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of European Law, Private International Law and Comparative Law (‘Zeitschrift für Europarecht, Internationales Privatrecht und Rechtsvergleichung’), the University of Vienna Law Review (VLR) and umweltrechtsblog.at. Her research on comparative private law and private international law focuses on the role of private law in strengthening supra-individual interests.
